The Orange County Property AppraiserThe Orange County Property Appraiser (OCPA) is liable for identifying, locating, and setting an excellent value to all or any properties, both real and private, within the county for tax purposes.

OCPA’s primary role is to determine fair and equitable value in the tax process, but appraising a particular location can be challenging.

With seven theme parks, four water parks, and hundreds of hotels and timeshares, Orange County is one of the most visited places in the world and boasts the most diverse types of properties. Additionally, Orange County has about 1.4 million residents living in one of the 400,000 residential properties.

 The business community occupies more than 60,000 nonresidential parcels and represents an equivalent number of business tax accounts. As of 2019, the Orange County tax record is $ 208.2 billion.

The OCPA is responsible for inspecting and appraising properties in Orange County in three categories

Orange County Property Records

Commercial Property

The retail division is responsible for setting the value of all commercial and timeshare properties and all vacant and improved areas for commercial use in Orange County.

Residential Property

The residential division is responsible for the appraisal of all vacant and upgraded residential properties in Orange County.

Tangible Personal Property

The tangible personal property division is responsible for finding and appraising all tangible personal property located in Orange County. Tangible personal property is a property that is not real estate used in commercial or rental property.

 Some examples of tangible personal property are rented computers, furniture, tools, supplies, and equipment.

History

Orange County is a county in the central part of the U.S. state of Florida. As of the 2010 census, the population was 1,145,956, making it the fifth-most populous county in Florida. The county seat is Orlando.

Geography

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,003 square miles (2,600 km2), of which 903 square miles (2,340 km2) island, and 100 square miles (260 km2) (10.0%) is water.

Government

The county operates under a charter form of government. The charter serves as a constitution, detailing the structure and operation of the local government. A Charter Review Commission has the power to consider and place amendments on the ballot. Voters then decide whether to accept or reject all amendments put forth. If voters approve an amendment, it is then inserted into the charter.

What Orange County Property Appraiser Employees Earn?
